This project was in response to the Diversity NOW! international competition, which celebrates diversity in fashion. The design brief was to boldly vision a fashion future which steps beyond stereotypes, redefines boundaries and celebrates a wider range of beauty and body ideals in age, size, race and physical ability. I worked together as part of a group and we decided to design for women with dark skin, who struggle to buy clothing that compliments their complection. We designed a two piece outfit, consisting of a full skirt, with hand screen print and embellishment, and a crop top, finished with hand crocheted elements. Our diffusion range included three hand screen printed headscarves. We were extremely pleased to hear we had been chosen as shortlisted finalists by All Walks Beyond The Catwalk Diversity NOW!
